The Greene School has selected Special Education Teacher Brian Flamand as our District Teacher of the Year. Brian has been with the school for several years now and definitely has a "Can Do" attitude. Besides his role as a teacher and crew leader, Brian also runs the Work Ready program over the summer where students get "hired" to work at much needed projects on the school campus. Students are paid for their time. This real work activity helps prepare students for work life after high school. He also participates in planning and attending the annual winter weekend trip. He is also the Coach for the school's first intramural sport's team- soccer. This is something the students have been asking for for years and Brian has taken it on! This is the team's second season and they play approximately 10 games. Come cheer for them and Coach Flamand at a game sometime!
Brian, along with all Rhode Island District Teachers of the Year, will be honored at a waterfire on September 21, 2024: Details are below. Come and Celebrate with them all!
WaterFire: A Salute to Rhode Island Educators” is the title of the next full lighting on Saturday, Sept. 21, in Providence.
The lighting is funded in part by the Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) and will kick off with a ceremony and torch procession at 4:30 p.m. at Memorial Park. When the sun sets at 6:40 p.m., nearly 90 District Teachers of the Year educators will take part in the lighting ceremony.
